Overview

ProSphere (PST), a Planned Systems International company (PSI), referred to as PSI-PST is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our team. The candidate must be self-motivated, possess strong communication skills, have attention to detail, and be willing to work as part of an integrated product team consisting of Government and contractor personnel.  The Senior Database Engineer (Sr. DBE) will be responsible for Oracle Data Warehouse Maintenance and Development to include updates to tables, patching, scripting, upgrades, and backups and recovery using Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) Repository and Application Server Management or Oracle Analytics Server (OAS).  The Sr. DBE will also provide system administration for Linux and Microsoft servers and need to understand and apply best practices and procedures for VA applications and data.  This person must be customer service-minded, provide weekly or as-requested reporting, and work with various teams to research and resolve issues or manage activities for updates.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Support all technical and operational aspects of the OAS application, including DB maintenance and ETL.
  • Perform all work utilizing VA applications and data support best practices and procedures.
  • Plan and provide on-time delivery, including sustainment, maintenance, and production operations for annual report deliverables for application.
  • Provide data support for corrections, APIs (new or modified), etc., as requested by customers or other sources.
  • Research and/or provide evidence for required audits (e.g., user audits).
  • Perform preventive and perfective administration activities, including database backups, recovery, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Perform Patching/migration/validation activities on all Oracle application server
  • Research/participate in/resolve issues resulting from Congressional District changes and/or VA Profile data changes.
  • Provide timely responses/resolution of customer requests for reports and new functionality.
  • Provide support for all patching/migration/validation activities on all CAMS application servers, including but not limited to all Windows, Linux, and database servers in all environments.
  • Prepare documentation for assigned projects and complete the necessary paperwork to release the products to production.
  • Support integrated releases and production deployments.
  • Provide performance reports and updates/briefings on all tasks/activities performed.
  • Deliver and maintain the highest quality of customer service to clients.
  • Become a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and DevSecOps change agent.
  • Responsible for Contract Deliverables, including FFRP Annual Audit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required.  Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ten (10) years of Oracle database or integrated systems experience.
  • Must have experience in Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) or Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), Oracle database.
  • Must have knowledge of Windows Visual Studio for development servers, Microsoft (MS) Structured Query Language (SQL) Database Server Suite, MS SQL Reporting Services, and MS Server Integration Services.
  • Must be able to identify strategies for addressing requirements.
  • Must have extensive experience analyzing requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues.
  • Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices.
  • Work after standard work hours if an issue is outstanding.

Required Technical/Business Tools Experience: 

  • Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) / Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
  • Oracle Database
  • Windows Visual Studio for development server
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Extract Transform and Load (ETL) using IBM DataStage
  • Provide ETL development and support for all CAMS applications, including any required and/or requested report generation for the Office of Asset Enterprise Management (OAEM) and other government entities making requests. 
  • Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) utilities
  • Experience with 508 Compliance
  • Experience with compliance for an Authority to Operate (ATO) / Authorizing System Briefing (AOSB) to include code changes and draft, coordinate, and submit documentation needed.
